marriott orlando world center cypress ballroom expansion
Orlando, Florida
As one of the Southeast’s leading convention and meeting resorts, the Marriott World Center sought to maintain a competitive edge through a comprehensive rethinking of its interior and exterior guest environments. The transformation focused on the hotel’s meeting and pre-function spaces, where strategic spatial reconfiguration and targeted design interventions significantly enhanced the overall functionality and marketability of the facility. The design approach balanced the need for an elegant, highly finished interior experience with the operational requirements of flexibility, access, and efficiency, ensuring the spaces could adapt seamlessly to a wide range of event formats and scales.
Extending beyond the interior, the project developed a coordinated indoor-outdoor strategy in collaboration with EDSA, creating a more integrated and fluid resort environment. Exterior amenities were reorganized to strengthen connections between programmed outdoor spaces and interior gathering areas, dissolving traditional boundaries between built form and landscape. The result is a more efficient and experiential use of the site, capable of accommodating large guest volumes while also providing a series of semi-private, restorative outdoor environments. These layered spaces enhance the overall resort experience by offering moments of respite within a highly active convention setting, reinforcing the property’s position as a premier destination for large-scale meetings and leisure travel.
