potomac district cafe & market

National Harbor, MD

Located in the Gaylord National Harbor Resort & Convention Center, the Potomac District Café & Market is a full renovation and conversion of an existing three-meal restaurant into a café that opens out to the hotel’s grand atrium. The reconfiguration provides greater activation of the atrium space along with a multitude of additional spaces for lounging and dining. The redesign is a modern interpretation of a classic French bistro, complete with selectively integrated, traditional trim work, cool paint tones, mosaic tiles, and glass and steel partitions that help break up the space. The addition of overhanging fabric awnings and intimately placed lighting help bring down the scale of the venue so it feels nestled within its context. The project also features a wine and spirits room, an outdoor dining terrace, several ready-to-eat dining options, a self-serve coffee wall as well as an espresso bar that projects into the atrium as the focal point of the experience.
