Having always been drawn to creative fields, Michael started his professional life in advertising. It was the combination of intensity, rigor and creativity within the advertising industry that inspired him to transition to the field of architecture. This dual career path has given Michael a strong balance between conceptual thinking and attention to detail that makes him a valuable member of the BLUR Workshop team.
He is currently working on a multi-phase renovation of the Hyatt Aruba Resort and Casino, which has included an overhaul of the existing guestrooms and suites and will include the addition of a new pool and the renovation of the restaurants. The programmatic complexity, coupled with the challenges of building internationally have set the stage for Michael to demonstrate his exemplary qualities as a project leader and client asset.
Michael recently completed his role on the Ballantyne Hotel, where he led the architectural effort in the design and documentation of a stunning renovation to this historic hotel situated in Charlotte, North Carolina. The renovation included a transformation of all public space and guestrooms, and a re-imagination of the exterior terrace lounge.
Previously, Michael’s experience in the hospitality market has produced a wide array of notable works including renovations of the Hilton Atlanta, Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley, and a build-out of a new Westin in Buffalo, New York. Whether it is ground-up or a renovation project, Michael is able to contribute to the design and assist with the management of internal design team, consultants or contractors. He’s driven by a passion for his profession and enjoys seeing the evolution of a project from design to built reality.
