Jonathan massie
Jonathan brings a distinctive blend of education, global experience, and cultural awareness to BLUR Workshop. Holding master’s degrees in both Architecture and Urban Design, and having lived in multiple countries, he has developed a keen sensitivity to context and scale. This perspective allows him to craft designs that are both architecturally unique and deeply rooted in their surroundings.
He is currently engaged in the expansion and renovation of the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, a multi-phased project that includes ballroom and meeting room renovations, expanded meeting spaces, and the addition of a sports bar and event pavilion. Building on his experience with large, complex developments, Jonathan played a key role in designing the Virgin Hotel Miami & Brickell Residences, a forty-eight-story tower in Miami’s sought-after Brickell neighborhood.
Previously, he oversaw a comprehensive two-year renovation of the Chateau Elan Resort & Winery in North Georgia, managing coordination and design from documentation through construction administration. Earlier work at BLUR included leading the design and documentation of one of the firm’s most technically challenging enclosure systems for Soundwaves at Gaylord Opryland, where he coordinated an atypical enclosure integrated with a hybrid long-span structural system. His additional experience encompasses exhibition pavilions for the historic Fernbank Museum in Atlanta, a prefabricated mixed-use development, and a ground-up library for the city of San Diego.
Jonathan pairs his passion for architecture with enthusiasm for athletics. As a former competitive cyclist and triathlete, he brings discipline, focus, and a commitment to excellence to every project. His diverse experiences and drive for quality make him a valuable and influential member of the BLUR Workshop team.
