BONNY MOON BEACH CLUB
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
Bonny Moon is a truly unique project, set on the site of the last remaining beach bar on Grand Cayman. After the original structure was severely damaged by a hurricane, the client saw an opportunity to re-envision the beloved beach-shack dive bar as an upscale, design-forward beach club.
In order to remain in its original location by code, the existing foundations and structural framework were required to be reused, demanding creative and thoughtful design solutions to achieve such a dramatic transformation. Within the main building, spaces were reimagined to accommodate additional covered dining, a revitalized bar, and the introduction of a coffee shop and DJ booth. The overall aesthetic is low-key beach eclectic, punctuated by playful pops of pink and green.
Mature existing trees were carefully preserved and integrated into the dining areas, creating intimate, one-of-a-kind spaces that celebrate the character of the site. Beyond the high-water line, new restroom and kitchen buildings support the expanded dining experience. Beneath a canopy of lush palms, outdoor lounging and game areas connect old and new, forming relaxed gathering spaces alongside a new outdoor kitchen. On the beach side of the main bar, generous furniture groupings invite guests to enjoy a true toes-in-the-sand dining experience.
