Jacob joined Blur Workshop in the summer of 2022 after completing his master degree at the Illinois Institute of Technology. While spending two years of study towards his masters in Chicago, Jacob had the opportunity to see first-hand the design and construction process within the city through site visits, office, and warehouse tours. His previous architectural experience includes a summer internship with CCY Architects in Basalt, Colorado and hands-on experience in construction administration through work with a small contractor based in Dallas, Texas. While obtaining his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design at Texas A&M University, Jacob joined a student organization called BUILD. As a member and student supervisor, Jacob was responsible for the safety of volunteers who, along with himself, assisted BUILD in retrofitting shipping containers into portable medical clinics. Once completed, the clinics would be stocked with medical supplies and transported to destinations across the globe. This experience would influence Jacob’s interest in adapt-reuse projects and by proxy, historic preservation.

Jacob’s passion for photography, both film and digital, is driven by an appreciation for the built environment and the human experience within designed spaces. His photographic experience began during his undergraduate studies abroad in Italy, where he was trained in film photography. During this time, his work was featured in some university publications. Whether it be during a walk through the city or a day in the office, Jacob is constantly imagining how the crafting of images, both for documentation and artistic purposes, can be used to tell the stories of spaces and the people who design and inhabit them.
