The SCAD Stair and Security Office Renovation reimagines the space left behind by a decommissioned escalator, turning it into a more open, welcoming, and visually engaging part of the campus. At the center of the renovation is a new grand stair that creates a stronger connection between floors while encouraging movement, interaction, and visibility throughout the space.
More than just a means of circulation, the stair becomes a focal point for showcasing student creativity. Display areas surrounding the stair highlight student artwork, transforming a transitional space into an active gallery experience that reflects the energy and culture of SCAD. Improved lighting, open sightlines, and carefully integrated materials help create an environment that feels both dynamic and approachable.
The renovation also includes a refreshed security office designed to feel more accessible to the campus. Together, the new stair and security office create a functional and engaging campus destination that celebrates creativity, improves circulation, and enhances the overall student experience.
